Karuta? Chihaya Furu?

Guess most of you are watching this season most pretty Anime, Chihaya Furu. It’s about a story of a groups of youngster playing Karuta(Japanese Card games with fucking boring artistic words writting on it).

Karuta in a box.

And Today I got to see the real deal for myself. ^^ A groups of Japanese decided to show us the Karuta Games and we played together. ^^

Playing. Too bad we didn’t have Tatami or I really would like to try shooting the card and stuck it at the wall. lol.

Although it’s the Karuto Game, it’s different type of card… Too bad I didn’t get to see the 100 poem type of cards like in Chihaya Furu(Wished to posing with the Chihaya Furu card. ^^)

The one we are playing with today is beginner type. Named “Iroha karuta”. Iroha in Japanese kinda meant “ABC”.

A Trip to Nikko~

At 20th September, I had a trip of 2 days and 1 night to Nikko sponsored by JTB. As you all already aware of the earthquake happened at Japan this March, many foreigner are afraid of the radioactive and is not visiting Japan as much as before.

Ops, you can see my name!! haha. As if I scared huh? ^^

Behind the name plate~

But from my point of view, Japan is really safe for now for traveling. And it’s a shame if you didn’t visit Japan since it’s be most advanced and most clean country in the world, not to mention the safety here too.

well then~ back to the trip~ Start from riding the bus~ we gathered at Tokyo Station that day. Then we board the bus and they start giving out flyers and badges~

Kinda nice badge~

The first stop is to Tobu World Square~

The entrance to Tobu World Square~

Odawara Castle(小田原城)

Yesterday when I’m going to part-time job interview at Odawara, I had passed through this Castle. Asked the man after my interview and he told me the entrance is free so I decided to take a walk inside it.

Some historical education for the tourist to read. How much can you understand without english explanation? ^^

It’s kinda interesting to see such historical building located just beside of the main road inside a city. ^^

liked the red bridge. A bridge always remind me of the scene from Spirited Away where Chihiro have to cross the bridge without breathing so the spirits or gods there will not notice she is a human.

Tokyo CGM Night 8

Last friday I had went to the famous Japan Pop Cultures blogger, a.k.a Danny Choo event named “CGM Night”. This is the 8th time of the CGM Night and I had joined 3 before. You can check out of my previous entry of the CGM Night here:

  1. Tokyo CGM Night 7
  2. Tokyo CGM Night 6
  3. Tokyo CGM Night 5

All the people that night. It’s really hard to fit all people in this small hall.

As usual the CGM Night is a gathering of famous blogger’s which have great interest in Japan’s pop cultures(anime, games, figures, dollfie…). The word CGM stand for “Consumer Generated Media”, which meant media(blog posts, news, feeds, tweets..) which wrote by consumer itself. You will need to be an active blogger and own a Twitter account to join the CGM Night.

As usual, the night started by introduction speech(very short and funny) from Danny Choo himself. A simple introduction of tonight’s guest and rules and then have fun!

This is the only photo of Danny which I took clearly that night… Sorry Danny ^^”

Mr Sugiyama from Digital Hollywood Studio. Thanks for the venue that night. He looked really fit in with all the cosplayers.

Ita-PSP (痛-PSP)

Ita-PSP, It’s a term to refer decorated PSP. The word Ita(痛) is original from Itai(痛い), which mean pain in Japanese. It’s original referring about Ita-sha(痛車), which mean someone painted their Car with Anime’ Characters.

Example of an Ita-sha

Last week when I’m going to Akihabara with Lester Ho, I saw some Anime Magazine and spotted that one of the magazine have the decorating stickers for PSP. I own a PSP myself and really liked the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha’s Decorating stickers. ^^

Bought the Magazines, Nyan-Type just for the stickers. for the contents and the stickers.

I leaved it there for few days. And so luckily I have no work today, so I decided to clean up my room and opened up the stickers and decorated it at my PSP.

This is the Stickers. It had 3 sets of stickers for you to choose from.

Stickers compared to PSP size.

Personally prefered the second sticker since it have Nanoha and Fate in it.

Done~ What disappointed me is that it doesn’t really suit well in Black PSP.

Images from right.

Well, guess can’t say much since it’s a free products. But back on my PSP. I really wanted a White-coloured PSP but since I can’t get it in Firmware 5.05 so have no choice but to go for black (Some know why I need 5.05 ^^)

So how was your PSP of your friends? Are your friends also decorating their PSP with stickers? Or they painted it? ^^

節分の日-豆まき (Setsubun’s Day, Throwing Beans)

Today I went to one of the nearest Shrine, Fuji Jinjya(富士神社) from my school for the setsubun festival(節分の日).

This is the building where all the kids are gathered.

In japan, usually 4th February is the day where it meant that the start of the new season, Spring. At that day, there are having the 豆まき(Mamemaki – Throwing Beans) ceremony which hopes that they can get good fortune for the year. They usually shout 「福は内、鬼は外」(Good fortune come in, Ghost go out!) and they start throwing the Beans at the people who act as the Ghost.

The one in green shirt is the Head Priest and he will leading all the other priests to throwing the snacks at the kids.

The Word “Bean” in Japanese is called {Mame} which have the meaning of the 魔滅 (Mametsu) – meaning destroying the Evil. So they believed that the bean can keep out bad fortune and asking good fortune in.

This is when they started to throwing the snacks.

I went there twice that day. The first time I went there alone at 3.00 p.m. At first I wonder why all the kids are holding up a plastic beg. Soon I know what happened. It’s used to catch the snacks which had been thrown by the priest from 2nd floor of the Shrine building. I didn’t bring anything with me and so I ended up empty hand…. LOL

Friends. From left: Yi Chin, Ming Li, Niji, XXX(forgot her name ^^)

The second time I went there at 4.00 p.m. This time I went there with few of my friends from my Japanese Language school. They also want to went there and take a look. Suddenly I encountered them at lobby and so we decided to go together.

She is the Ghost(Oni)!

One of my friend give me the idea that using the cap of my coat to act as the plastic beg to get the snacks. And what surprised me, It WORK!! I am able to get lots of snack at the second time. ^^

The Snacks we got from the Mamemaki Ceremony. Most of it is what I got. ^^

Friends with snacks get!!

And here you are, My photo once in a while. ^^

Really having fun that day with friends and once again I felt the greatness of the cultures of Japanese. One of my online friend said that it’s like children day for Japanese kids. I just smiled. ^^ what do you think?

Magical Girl Lyrical NANOHA the Movie 1st

Yesterday morning I went to Shinjuku’s milano cinema to watch the famous animation Magical Girl Lyrical NANOHA the movie 1st.

The Tokyu Milano Cinema.

Reached there at about 10.57 a.m. And it started at 11.00. Really rushed there and be able to enter before the show started.

Entrance of the Cinema.

This movie is the remake of the original 1st season of the anime which showed at 2004 year.

Bought the ticket a month ago during Winter Comiket. Costed 2000 yen while the ticket itself costed 1500 yen.

Personally felt great about the movie and felt nostalgic too. Be able to re-watch the transforming scenes of Nanoha and Fate. But one strange thing is that the audience are almost all male.^^

LOL. Each transformation during the anime version takes up to 1 minutes. ^^

This is the ticket where you need to show during entrance.

Goods ^^ Snapped with my iPhone.

After the movie, there is a section selling official goods like A4 files , phone straps and original CDs. The A4 files ticked my urge to buy and then I tried to line up. But soon give up when I saw that the line is so long that it goes up to 3rd floor… Like I said, Japanese liked to line up.^^”

This is the line… ^^ Up until 3rd floor.

Inside the cinema. This photo is taken after the show ended.

Rushed back home for practise session of harmonica with Toda-san and have to work at night. Really been busy.

P.S. :  Liked the new song of Nana Mizuki(水樹 奈々) and Yukari Tamura(田村ゆかり). Main song [Phantom Minds] and intro song [Don’t be long] by Nana Mizuki and Ending song [My Wish My Love] by Yukari Tamura.
